Happy New Year

I may not be able to post for awhile...I am taking my computer in this morning for a checkup. It has been running really slow, so I thought I would have it checked out. When I called for an appointment, they said just bring it in. It will take 15 to 20 minutes to check it out. We shall see...

Anyway, if you don't see me on here for a few days, that is why. With the holiday weekend coming, any needed repair could be delayed. So I will wish everyone a very happy and prosperous new year.

A Good Read...

I got a very interesting book in my stocking this year - "29 Gifts - How a Month of Giving Can Change Your Life" by Cami Walker. I read it in two days and am thinking of taking the challenge. There is a website you can go to to find out about it before reading the book, if you are interested. www.29gifts.com.

Merry Christmas, everyone. I don't have anything stamped to show you today, but I did want to take the opportunity to wish you a happy holiday season. Enjoy friends and family, all the good food, and just being together with the ones you love. Happy holidays!!!

Cute and Simple Box

This is a really cute and simple box (actually it is more like a bag) to make. You can put a small gift item in it or fill it with candy. Either way, I am sure it will be appreciated by the recipient. This is what the finished product looks like once you have it all decorated.

To make this box, start with a piece of DSP cut to 8 1/2" x 10 1/2". On 10 1/2" side, score at 2", 5", 7" and 10". Turn and score at 2" and 7". The 2" part will be top (flap over). Adhere with sticky strip.

Gift Card Holder with Rounded Corners

Here is another gift card holder idea. Sorry...my bellyband is a little crooked!
This was made from a piece of cardstock 4 1/4" x 10" scored at 3", 4", 5" and 8". Round the corners of the cardstock.
Fold score marks so that 3" and 5" meet with 4" sticking up. Adhere with sticky strip. Cut narrow strip at 4" mark to form a slot to hold gift card.
Decorate as desired with DSP. For the inside you will need 2 pieces cut at 2 3/4" x 4", 1 piece cut at 1 3/4" x 4" and 2 pieces cut at 3/4" x 4".
For the outside you will need 2 pieces cut at 2 3/4" x 4" and 1 piece cut at 1 3/4" x 4".
Make a bellyband with ribbon or a contrasting piece of DSP.

Gift card holder from envelope

This is a quick and easy gift card holder. You can use any DSP to decorate your envelope and to create a bellyband. You can also use ribbon to create the bellyband.

This is what your envelope should look like after you have folded it and cut a "v" in the flap. You then seal the left side flap and cut the right side flap to approximately 1".

This is what the inside looks like after adding the designer paper.
See, quick and easy!
Well, I am off to start baking Christmas cookies.

Card #3

This was the third card (and I think it is my favorite!) I received a card from my upline (Margaret) that was similar to this and I used it as my inspiration. I did not have the stamp set that was used on the card I received, so I adjusted. Let me know if you would like the dimensions and/or instructions for this card.

Card #2

This is the second card I made this year. I just love the Deck the Halls DSP! The bottom half is soft suede cardstock that ran the my Big Shot using the square lattice embossing folder. I topped that with a strip of whisper white cs punched with the ribbon punch. The bow is made from the new seam binding ribbon. The color is Cherry Cobbler to match the main CS for the card.

Christmas Card #1

This was the first Christmas card I did this year for mailing out. I only did about ten of them, because they turned out quite bulky and I figured they would cost extra for postage. They were fun to do, though, as the tree was made from a circle that was cut in half, then scored and folded. I did this card in one of my classes and the ladies had fun with it.
Another card tomorrow!

My Little Nutcracker

As promised, here are pictures of my youngest grandson performing in The Nutcracker. He was one of the Russian dancers and did a wonderful job. Doesn't he look proud of himself?!!
I am so grateful to be able to attend performances like this. I consider it a real treat!

MIA

I know, I know, I have done it again...MIA. I am really trying to be better, but time just keep slipping, slipping, slipping into the future (as the song goes).

I am attending a performance of the Nutcracker this morning. My youngest grandson's second grade is putting it on. I will be there to take pictures, so when I get home, I will post at least one for you...promise!

I also need to take pictures of the three different Christmas cards I am sending out this year. I will post those, too, maybe one per day for three days so that I can keep blogging. That's the plan, anyway...

Christmas Favor

This is a little Christmas favor I made up so that I would remember how to make this type of favor. I had helped a friend make up this type of favor for Escalon's Home Tour, which is happening next weekend. I thought the idea was cute and wanted to remember it, so I made a sample. Cute, eh?!!
I have been busily preparing for my class in SC on Monday evening. I will share the cards we are making with you after I get back next week...don't want to spoil the surprise for the ladies at the class!

Blue getting cozy

This is my dog, Blue Crystal, (Blue for short) waiting for Daddy to turn the fireplace on. When she is cold, she goes and sits there as if asking for it to be turned on.

The top picture, which was supposed to be the second picture, is Blue after Dave starts the fire. She loves sitting (or laying) as close as she can get to the fire.

I wish I knew how to fix the eyes! The picture makes her look like "Devil Dog" and she is the sweetest thing.

Last Day!!!

Today is the last day to get the Stampin'Up starter kit for half price! What a great deal...over $300 worth of "goodies" for $87.50...you can't beat that!
I read on the Stampin'Up website this morning that Shelli is going to be on the Today Show December 13th...isn't that exciting!

I'm Back!!

I know I have not posted for a long time. There has been a lot of changes in my life over the past few months. The biggest change is the move we made. Dave and I moved into a larger house! I know...we are supposed to be downsizing at our age!! But the opportunity came up for us to have the type of home we always wanted and we decided to go for it. It has been a lot of work, but we think it is well worth it. It will probably take us a couple of years to get it just the way we want it, but we will just keep working at it.

We have had another Stamp Camp and I have made a few cards on my own since my last posting. I will share my most recent one with you today. This is a card I made for my Red Hat group meeting in November. Don't you just love it?!!
